B i o g r a p h y
Rachel Peters is an active performing musician in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Peters is Principal Second Violin of Orchestra Iowa and serves as a member of the violin section in Orchestra Iowa and Quad City Symphony Orchestra. She holds teaching positions for violin and viola at Coe College and Schultz Strings. She has recorded for Disney Plus, Cedille Records, and is a concert artist for Sheva Collective.

Peters is an advocate for contemporary music. She has performed the music of Steve Reich and Jessie Montgomery through multiple residency programs, where she worked extensively with the composer. She has also performed with the International Contemporary Ensemble.

Peters received her High School Diploma from the School for the Creative and Performing Arts with a concentration in violin. As a high school student, she received the Artistic Director’s Award for her artistic excellence and was a finalist in the Corbett-Mayerson competition. She was one of four violinists in her district to be invited to participate in the Young Classical Musician's Day at the White House, led by First Lady Michelle Obama. Peters completed her Bachelor of Music degree at the College-Conservatory of Music in Cincinnati, Ohio and her Master of Music degree at the Bienen School of Music at Northwestern University. She is an alumnus of the Civic Orchestra of Chicago where she served as Associate Concertmaster.
She is completing her Doctor of Musical Arts at the University of Iowa under the direction of Katie Wolfe.

Peters plays on a 1687 Vincenzo Ruggieri composite violin and a bow by Dominique Peccatte.
